Terms of Service
Effective 26 August 2026
1. Who you're dealing with
PlayerTap is operated by Henry Kreger and Ryan Herman, individuals (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us for the PlayerTap website, the profiles it hosts, and the physical PlayerTap cards.
By creating an account, activating a card, or joining the waitlist, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use PlayerTap.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old to have a PlayerTap account. Bet tracking is separate: you must be at least 18 to switch it on or to be recorded in anyone's bets.
You're responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your password to yourself. Tell us at hello@playertap.app if you think someone else has got into it.
3. Your profile is public
That includes your name, photo, handicap, home course, bio, interests, your Locker answers, and any links you add. Your phone number and email are shown only if you switch them on, and are off by default.
Your card opens your profile for whoever taps it. If you don't want something seen by a stranger on a golf course, don't put it on your profile.
4. What you post
You keep ownership of everything you put on PlayerTap — your photos, your words, your links. You give us permission to store and display it for the purpose of running the service, and that permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
You promise that what you post is yours to post, and that it isn't:
- someone else's photo, name or identity presented as your own
- abusive, harassing, hateful, or sexual
- an advert for something unrelated, or a scam
- illegal, or an encouragement to do something illegal
We can remove content or close accounts that break this, without notice where the situation warrants it.
5. Connections and messages
Only people you've connected with can message you, and removing a connection deletes the conversation for both sides.
People you meet through PlayerTap are strangers. We don't verify anyone's identity, handicap, home course, or anything else they tell you. Use the same judgement you would meeting someone on a course, and don't rely on a profile as proof of who someone is.
We aren't responsible for what other users say or do, on or off the service. Report anything serious to us at hello@playertap.app.
6. Bet tracking
Bet tracking is off by default and must be switched on by both players. If you use it:
- you are responsible for whether what you're doing is legal where you are — rules on wagering vary by state and by venue
- settling up happens directly between you, by whatever means you choose. Any payment link we show simply opens that app; the payment is between you and them
- a bet marked settled means one of you pressed a button. It is not proof of payment, and we can't adjudicate a disagreement about what was owed
- you must be 18 or older
Don't use PlayerTap to run a betting pool, a book, or anything else in the business of gambling.
7. Cards
PlayerTap cards are sold in numbered runs. The number printed on a card is yours once you activate it, and a card can be activated once — after that it opens the profile of whoever claimed it.
- Cards are physical objects and can be lost, damaged or worn out. A lost card keeps pointing at your profile until we help you retire it, so tell us at hello@playertap.app if that happens
- A card needs this service to be useful. If PlayerTap were ever to shut down, the card would stop opening anything — see section 9
- Cards depend on the other person's phone supporting NFC. Most phones from the last several years do; some don't
- If a card arrives faulty, tell us within 30 days and we'll replace it
8. The waitlist and email
Joining the waitlist means we'll email you about the card. Every one of those emails carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is immediate and permanent unless you sign up again.
Account emails — password resets in particular — are part of the service and aren't optional while you have an account.
9. No guarantees
PlayerTap is provided as-is. We don't promise it will always be available, that taps will always work, that messages will always arrive, or that anything you store here is backed up in a way you can rely on. Keep your own copy of anything that matters.
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, including features you paid a card to use.
10. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost business, lost opportunities, lost rounds — arising from your use of PlayerTap.
Where liability can't be excluded, it is capped at the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100.
Some states don't allow certain exclusions, in which case those parts simply don't apply to you.
11. Ending it
You can stop using PlayerTap whenever you like, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@playertap.app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Sections that by their nature should survive — ownership, liability limits, governing law — survive.
12. Changes
We'll update these terms as the product changes. If a change materially affects your rights, we'll tell account holders by email. Continuing to use PlayerTap after a change means you accept it.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Maryland.
