Privacy Policy

Effective 26 August 2026

The short version

Your profile is public — that's the product. Your messages, your Play Again List and your bets are not. We don't sell anything about you to anyone.

What we collect

When you sign up: your name, email, username, and a hashed version of your password. We never store the password itself.

What you add to your profile: photo, handicap, home course, bio, interests, Locker answers, links, and optionally a phone number. All of it is optional and all of it is public — see below.

What you do here:who you connect with, who tapped your card and when, who you've added to your Play Again List, messages you send, and any bets you record.

If you join the waitlist:your name and email, and whether you've unsubscribed.

Automatically: a session cookie once you log in, and — if you tap a card before you have an account — a random identifier in a cookie so that tap can be credited to you if you sign up.

What's public and what isn't

Public to anyone with your link or card, no login needed: your name, photo, handicap, home course, vibe line, bio, interests, Locker answers, your links, your connection count, and your card number. Your phone and email appear only if you switch them on.

Private to you:your messages, who is on your Play Again List (until it's mutual — then you both find out), your bets, your tap history, and your email address unless you've chosen to show it.

How we use it

To run the service: showing your profile to people who tap your card, letting you connect and message, keeping your card pointed at you, and telling you when something happens.

To email you: password resets, a confirmation when you join the waitlist, and — if you leave it on — a note when you and someone else both add each other to your Play Again Lists. You can turn notification emails off in your profile settings; password resets you can't, since they're how you get back in.

We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, and there is no advertising on PlayerTap.

Who else touches it

To run the service we rely on a few companies, who process data on our behalf:

  • Vercel — hosting and serving the site
  • Neon — the database
  • Amazon Web Services — storing profile and bag photos
  • Resend — sending email

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

How long we keep it

Your account data stays until you ask us to delete it. Messages stay until you or the other person removes the connection, which deletes the conversation for both of you.

A tap recorded before you had an account expires after 30 days if nobody claims it, and is deleted.

Waitlist entries stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Unsubscribing keeps the record so we don't email you again by accident.

Your choices

  • Edit or clear any profile field at any time — empty fields simply don't appear
  • Turn your phone number and email off (they're off by default)
  • Turn bet tracking off, and notification emails off
  • Unsubscribe from waitlist email using the link in any of them
  • Ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account, by emailing hello@playertap.app. We'll action deletion within 30 days

Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your data. Email us and we'll honour them.

Security

Passwords are hashed, password-reset links are stored only as hashes and expire in an hour, and traffic is encrypted in transit. No service can promise perfect security, and we won't pretend otherwise.

Children

PlayerTap isn't for anyone under 13. We don't knowingly collect anything from children under 13, and if we learn we have, we'll delete it. If you believe a child has an account, email hello@playertap.app.

Changes

We'll update this policy as the product changes, and tell account holders by email if a change materially affects them.
